Slainte Baby is a South Carolina based duo consisting of Jessica and Paul Reeves. Jessica found her musical footing in the thriving Boston music scene sharing the stage with the likes of Gary Cherone of Extreme and Robert Holmes of Til' Tuesday and has opened for George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. Paul was born in Belfast and immigrated to the US when he was a child. Early in his career he was mentored by Delaney Bramlett and later Merle Haggard in the craft of songwriting. With Jessica's vocals and Paul's knack for crafting songs the pair has found the yin and yang in one another as a singer/songwriter duo.

Situation Satisfy Me has all the qualities of a radio hit. It is fun, upbeat and infectiously catchy. The chorus actually reminds me of classic Bon Jovi or even Ricky Martin. Not in the performance or genre, but in the ability to craft a fiercely memorable hook that pulls the listener in at first listen. It is a pop rock masterpiece made for adults that still want to bounce and move!

After multiple listens of the entire release the track that jumped out to this writer's ears was Lovin' On You. The vocals are strong and soulful on this perfect 3:30 Motown influenced cut. The band is as pocketed as it gets and the mix is wonderful. The tempo sits in that sweet spot that makes anyone that possesses a pulse feel compelled to tap their foot, at bare minimum. The horns play a huge role here adding depth and harmony that is steeped in the classic R&B sound.

Another cut that has a strong 70's influence is Dang. This one also has a strong brass presence and a bit more of a disco influenced approach to the same formula. The formula being well crafted catchy songs performed at a high level from all involved. This song feels like it would've been right at home in a disco scene in Starsky and Hutch! For those who know, you know... for those who don't, no words can explain the visual required to understand the setting that this song is a perfect fitting puzzle piece.

EP Two is a six song effort that shows strong influences of the 70's AM radio sounds. It sounds like a modern day version in terms of the production but the songs themselves would have thrived in the 70's AM radio market. The band performs the compositions with confidence at every turn. The vocals are strong and well executed across the entirety of the release. As mentioned, the horns play a huge role on this release adding a touch of class and punch that only brass can achieve. I highly recommend this album to fans of the 70s's dance tracks that were a part of the soundtrack of many of our lives!
