Randy Lee Riviere
Randy Lee is a Recording Artist and Songwriter who cannot be attached to a single point of view. He cannot be identified with any particular geography. If you ask him what sort of music he writes and records, he'll just say "this is American Music". Randy Lee does blues, blues rock, rock, country rock, 'americana "whatever that is" he says., country, folk, folk rock - all with a rootsy undertow. He even wrote and recorded a gospel song! With the great McCrary Sisters.
Randy Lee has had a more blues rock focus on his past three albums: Blues Sky, Concrete Blues, and his latest Farmhand Blues. "I'm digging blues music these days. I'm finding that the blues structure and particular vibe provides a good platform for delivering stories".
Riviere says. And the people in this world are wonderful. Even the snobby ones who have a particular notion of what blues is, and it's either whatever that is or it's not blues" Riviere continues. "There are tons of little radio stations out there, people broadcasting from their bedrooms or garage, that make no money for what they do; they just love the music man. All these almighty songs and people that can really play .. think Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaugn, Johnny Winter. My brother, producer, songwriter and other worldly drummer Tom Hambridge. The folks worship these guys". "There was this dude who told me that I'm not a blues guy, never will be, blues fans won't like me' blah blah. Then I said .. ok ... and went on to do three blues albums lol.
Randy Lee has done lots of things in his life. But the one thing that has stuck with him since middle school is music. Guitar mostly throughout his formative years; lead guitar in lots of bands. We played in Garages, at parties mainly way out in the country where we could just crank it you know, at outdoor 'mini festivals', school dances, in city parks -wherever, whenever, getting paid or not we were there. Then later it was dive bars and on and on. I finally started making records in like 2001 out in the LA area. Then I made my way to Nashville and have done five albums here now. I've been so lucky to work with lots of great super talented people. I won't drop names except for my hero Tom Hambridge. I just love making music. When I finish what I think is a good song, it's like the best thing in my life'
